28 Jan Heditude Unplugged – Simone Perks and Brian Smith
Two more acts announced – and all that jazz …
We’re pleased to announce that the very busy Simone Perks will be appearing at Heditude Unplugged.
Simone is a busy musician, performing with bands, as a duo and as a solo singer in pubs, clubs and events across Essex and East Anglia. She was delighted to find space in her busy diary for Heditude Unplugged. As she says, “I believe that if you see someone without a smile, you should give them one of yours. Heditude Unplugged is going to be one of those events where people will smile.”
Simone will be accompanied by guitarist Tony Sandeman. Tony is a musician and jazz educator with over 40 years of experience across a wide spectrum of music gigging throughout the UK and Europe.
In 1975 Tony joined Kenny Baxter’s Turntable alongside some of the finest players in the country including bassist John Mole (Coliseum), and drummer Bobby Armstrong.
Tony later worked with Peter Jacobsen, one of the finest jazz pianists to have emerged from this country, on many projects including the highly popular band C level, and toured with Ben E King until Pete’s death in 2002.
Tony has played with (amongst others) Tim Whitehead, Derek Nash, Gary Plumley, Bobby Wellins, Don Weller, Sean Freeman, Reg Webb, Digby Fairweather and Liane Carroll. He has also toured with many American and British soul artists such as Martha Reeves and the Vandelas, Ben E King, The Detroit Emeralds and Linda Lewis.
Simone’s powerful voice and the soulful jazz accompaniment of Tony Sandeman is sure to be one of the highlights Heditude Unplugged.
Another, more traditional, jazz artist playing Heditude Unplugged is Brian Smith, together with pianist Luke Peter Hawkins. Brian, who works for the East of England Ambulance Service, took up singing, shall we say, ‘later in life’, but is now making a name for himself on the local jazz & open mic scene.
